GNAT Box Receives NCSA Certification
Orlando, Florida (23 June 1997) -- The most cost-effective network security firewall, the GNAT Box firewall system, is now certified by the National Computer Security Association (NCSA). The NCSA Firewall Product Certification provides assurance to end-users that a certified Firewall product can be configured to protect an internal network against a suite of current threats tested by NCSA while allowing important business functions to operate effectively in an Internet/intranet environment.
The GNAT Box firewall, which is based on GTA's proven firewall technology, is the result of the company's pioneering effort to distill its technology into a low-cost, yet effective network security solution. The entire firewall system, including its own operating system, resides on a single floppy diskette, eliminating the need and cost of a hard disk. The GNAT Box's hardware requirements are meager: a 386 CPU, 8Mb RAM, 3.5" floppy drive, and two network cards. "NCSA certification clearly identifies the GNAT Box system as a full fledged firewall," says Paul Emerson, president of GTA.
For all its smallness, the GNAT Box is a sophisticated firewall that meets the same NCSA criteria as firewalls costing ten to twenty times as much. The system protects an organization's internal computer network against any unauthorized access, while permitting internal users easy access to the Internet. The GNAT Box system is provided with an unlimited user license, supports up to 16,384 concurrent connections and can be managed via a web browser based interface.
The GNAT Box firewall software is available direct from GTA and its worldwide network of resellers and distributors.
